Chase DoorDash Benefits vs. Gift Cards: Which Costs Less?

By the Gift Card Zoo Editorial Team

Compare Chase’s DoorDash promos with discounted gift cards, including payment requirements, activation deadlines and a $100 spending example.

Chase’s DoorDash benefits can reduce eligible orders, but the best payment choice depends on your order size and available promo.

For a $100 eligible order with a $10 Chase promo, a discounted DoorDash gift card currently costs about $84 on Gift Card Zoo versus $90 after the Chase promo. The gift card costs about $6 less before differences in fees and card rewards. For smaller orders, use the Chase promo first: $10 off a $20 eligible order leaves just $10 to cover.

What DoorDash benefits do Chase cards include?

As of October 2, 2026, eligible Chase cards offer complimentary DashPass plus monthly or quarterly promos. Activation and an eligible Chase payment card are required.

Eligible Freedom cardsSix months when activated by December 31, 2027$10 off one eligible non-restaurant order each quarterDecember 31, 2027

Eligible cobranded cards, including some Hyatt and United cards, also have benefits that depend on the card and activation date. Eligible memberships activated on or after September 1, 2026, may include a monthly $10 non-restaurant promo through December 31, 2027.

Non-restaurant promos cover eligible grocery, convenience and other retail orders—not restaurant meals. Unused promo value is forfeited rather than carried forward.

When does a discounted DoorDash gift card cost less?

For a $100 eligible purchase, the best generally available DoorDash gift card offer costs less than either a single $10 or $15 Chase promo.

As of October 2, 2026, Gift Card Zoo tracks DoorDash cards at 16.5% off through CardCenter, about $84 for a $100 card, with 4 open offers. That compares with a $90 balance after a $10 Chase promo or an $85 balance after a $15 Chase promo.

This example assumes the full promo applies and excludes taxes, tips, fees and card rewards. It compares payment alternatives, not a combined gift-card-and-Chase-promo stack; you may also need to buy a larger gift card than your immediate order requires.

CardCash currently lists DoorDash cards at 4.4% off, about $96 for a $100 card. That does not beat CardCenter’s approximately $84 price or either Chase promo in this example; CardCash Elite members can do even better with members-only pricing.

Live marketplace prices and available card values can change. The narrow $1 advantage over the $15 promo can also disappear if payment-dependent fees or rewards differ.

Can you combine the Chase promo with a gift card?

Use the eligible Chase card as the payment method for the documented Chase benefit route. The activation and ordering instructions require that card, so a combined gift-card stack is not the recommended workflow here.

To use the Chase benefit:

  1. Sign in to DoorDash on the website or app.
  2. Add your eligible Chase card and make it your default payment method.
  3. Follow the prompts to activate complimentary DashPass.
  4. Build an eligible order and select the available Chase promo at checkout.
  5. Keep the eligible Chase card selected for payment and review the final total before placing the order.

DashPass provides $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders meeting the minimum subtotal. A non-restaurant promo and delivery-fee benefits have separate eligibility conditions, so the checkout total—not just the item subtotal—determines your final saving.

What happens when complimentary DashPass ends?

DashPass automatically renews at the standard monthly rate after the complimentary period ends. As of October 2, 2026, that rate is $9.99 per month.

If you do not want a paid membership, cancel before your complimentary period finishes. The activation deadline is not the same as your personal renewal date.

Use Chase promos on smaller orders; compare gift cards for larger ones

For the $100 example, CardCenter’s DoorDash gift card costs about $84 versus $90 after a $10 Chase promo, making the gift card about $6 cheaper under the stated assumptions. A smaller eligible order can get much greater proportional savings from the fixed-dollar Chase promo.

Activate eligible Sapphire or Freedom DashPass benefits by December 31, 2027. For your next order, first view the final total with the Chase promo and eligible card selected, then compare it with the current gift card offer before buying a card.
